It's often thought that lifeguard programs are for teens. Even younger kids want to learn the practice. So, it's nice to hear that Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) offers a new Junior Lifeguard Program for ages 11 - 14.
This program teaches water safety, first aid, CPR and AED techniques. Interested youth build self-confidence while getting ready for work as lifeguards. Participants learn about pool safety in a fun and challenging atmosphere.
The program takes place at the Indoor Sports Complex in Brentwood (920 Heritage Way). Students take a pre-test on Saturday, March 16 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. They must pass the pre-test to be eligible for the course. The pre-test is free of charge. The Junior Lifeguard Program takes place March 26 - May 4 (skip April 16 - 20). Classes are on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 - 7 p.m., and Saturdays 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. The course cost is $45.
