Pre-K through Grade 8 • Enrollment: 445 • Established 2001
Saint Matthew is Catholic elementary school located in Franklin, TN, serving 440+ students in grades Pre-K through 8th. The school opened in 2001 with the mission of educating students while passing on the traditions and teachings of the Catholic faith. This goal is accomplished through the motto of the school: Seeking Knowledge, Modeling Christ, and Serving Others. These three simple words, Seeking, Modeling, and Serving, are the guiding force behind every aspect of daily life at our school. In living the motto, Saint Matthew School desires to give each student the opportunity to cultivate the gifts they have been given, the opportunity to discover new gifts to better serve their faith and community, and the opportunity to become the best version of themselves they can be.
Saint Matthew provides a superior program of academic preparation for our students. In fall 2017, Saint Matthew was named a Blue Ribbon School, the only private school in Williamson County to ever receive this distinct honor. Our students supplement their academic endeavors with the opportunity to participate in our competitive sports teams, and our co-curriculars including Science Olympiad, Mathletes, Model UN, and Drama/Forensics.
The moral and spiritual lessons that emerge from faith based instruction find their way into everyday application by students at SMS. The high standards of Christian character, conduct, and service are developed as students embrace our motto. We welcome students of all faiths and our teachings contribute to the character development of all our students.
Service Learning opportunities for our students are many. Each grade has a specific service opportunity that they support throughout the year, such as collecting peanut butter for Haiti, collecting pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House, and making lunches for the homeless. During our annual Service Day, the entire school donates a full day of service hours to help those less fortunate. We work closely with Special Olympics and Ronald McDonald House as partners in our Service Day efforts, but also send packages to our military, collect coats for the homeless, and more.
